Buy Super Duolingo & Duolingo Max in Nepal — Ad-Free Learning, Unlimited Practice, AI Speaking Tools | Cheapmandu
Super Duolingo from Rs. 1,550. Duolingo Max from Rs. 3,900. Activated on the account you already use, usually within ten minutes. Pay by eSewa, Khalti, QR or bank transfer.
The free version of Duolingo still gives you every lesson in every course. Duolingo hasn’t locked any of the teaching behind a paywall. What changed over the past year is how often the app makes you stop.
Free users on mobile now get a daily pool of energy that drains as they practise, worth about two or three lessons. Once it’s gone you either wait for it to refill, sit through an ad, or spend gems. If you do one lesson before bed you’ll hardly notice this. If you’re grinding forty minutes a day for the DET, you will hit that wall every single afternoon, and it gets old.
So that’s what a paid plan actually buys you. The lessons are the same. You just stop getting interrupted.
Which tier do you need?
| If this sounds like you | Get |
|---|---|
| You want Duolingo without ads and without running out of energy halfway through | Super |
| You’re preparing for the DET, IELTS or TOEFL and want to drill for as long as you like | Super |
| You know the vocabulary but freeze when you have to say something out loud | Max |
| You’ll realistically use AI Video Call or Roleplay every week | Max |
| You do a lesson a day and mostly want your streak protected | Super |
Honestly, most people should buy Super. Max is only worth the extra if you’re going to talk to it.

What Super Duolingo changes
Super was called Duolingo Plus until 2022. It’s the same subscription with a new name.
Ads disappear
Nothing plays between lessons and no banners run while you practise. A five second ad sounds trivial until you’ve sat through nine of them in one study session.
No energy limit
You can practise for two hours if you want to, and you can get things wrong as often as you need to. That second part matters more than it sounds. On the free tier every mistake costs energy, which quietly trains you to avoid the exercises you find difficult, which are the ones you should be doing.
Offline lessons
Download a set before a flight, a long bus ride, or an evening when the power is out. Your progress syncs once you’re back online.
Practice Hub
This one tracks the words and grammar rules you keep getting wrong and builds review sessions around exactly those. Twenty minutes here does more for you than repeating a unit you already passed.
Streak repair and extra freezes
You get one repair a month plus freezes for the days when life gets in the way. Anyone sitting on a 400 day streak already understands why this feature sells subscriptions.
Progress quizzes
A score you can compare month to month, instead of guessing at your level from how many lessons you’ve finished.
Spaced repetition
Material comes back at the interval where it’s most likely to stick. It’s the least interesting feature on this list and probably the one doing the most work.
Sync across devices
Phone on the way to work, laptop at home, same progress on both.
What Duolingo Max adds
Max includes all of Super and adds two AI speaking features.
Video Call puts you in a live voice conversation with an AI character. You talk, it answers, it corrects you, it keeps the conversation going. Sessions are short and there’s no pronunciation score at the end, so treat it as practice rather than a test. The real value is that you can be bad at speaking in private, over and over, with nobody watching.
Roleplay runs you through scenarios like ordering food or asking for directions, then gives you a report on how you did.
Before you buy Max, there’s one change worth knowing about. Explain My Answer used to be a Max feature, and since January 2026 it’s been free for everybody. That leaves Video Call and Roleplay as the entire difference between the two tiers. If those two don’t appeal to you, Super gives you the same thing for less than half the price.
Language coverage is the other thing to check. Max’s AI features roll out course by course. Spanish, French, German and English are well supported. Smaller courses often aren’t. Confirm your language before you pay, or message us and we’ll check it for you.
Free, Super and Max compared
| Feature | Free | Super | Max |
|---|---|---|---|
| Course content | Full | Same full curriculum | Same full curriculum |
| Ads | Between lessons | None | None |
| Energy limit on mobile | Yes, about 2–3 lessons a day | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Offline downloads | No | Yes | Yes |
| Practice Hub | No | Yes | Yes |
| Streak repair and freezes | Limited | Yes | Yes |

| Explain My Answer | Free since Jan 2026 | Free | Free |

The curriculum is identical across all three. You’re paying for uninterrupted practice, and on Max, for conversation.
Using Super for Duolingo English Test prep
The Duolingo English Test is a separate product from the app. It’s a proctored English exam accepted by thousands of universities in the US, UK, Canada and Australia, it costs about $70, you sit it at home, and results come back in roughly two days. That combination is why so many Nepali students applying abroad now take it instead of IELTS.
The app won’t teach you the test format and it isn’t a substitute for proper DET preparation. What Super gives you is volume. Practice Hub goes after your weak grammar, unlimited energy means an hour of drilling doesn’t get cut short, and progress quizzes give you something to measure. Students who run daily Super practice alongside official DET practice tests generally get more out of both.
You register and pay for the test yourself at englishtest.duolingo.com. We don’t sell it.
Which courses are worth your time
Duolingo runs more than 40 courses, but the depth varies enormously.
English, Spanish, French and German are the most developed. They get updated most often and receive new features first.
Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Italian, Portuguese, Hindi, Arabic, Russian, Turkish, Dutch and Swedish are all solid, full courses.
Navajo, Yiddish, Hawaiian and Welsh are lighter. They’re worth doing, but expect fewer exercises and no AI features.
High Valyrian and Klingon exist, and people do finish them.
The courses we sell most to learners in Nepal are English for study and work abroad, then Japanese and Korean, then Spanish and French for students heading to Europe.

Frequently asked questions
Is Super Duolingo available in Nepal? Yes. Both Super and Duolingo Max work normally here. We handle the activation with local payment so you don’t need a foreign card.
