Parallels Desktop in Nepal

Price range: ₨ 14,888 through ₨ 18,777

Buy Parallels Desktop 27 in Nepal — Run Windows on Your Mac | Cheapmandu

Run Windows and its applications on an Apple Silicon Mac, without rebooting. Parallels Desktop 27 Standard Rs. 14,888, Pro Rs. 18,777. Instant activation, local payment with eSewa, Khalti, or QR.

Parallels Desktop 27 runs Windows inside macOS as a virtual machine. Not a reboot, not a separate partition — Windows applications open in their own windows alongside your Mac apps, with shared files, a shared clipboard, and drag-and-drop between the two.

It’s the practical answer for a Mac user who needs one Windows application: accounting software, a client’s ERP, an engineering or CAD tool, a government portal that only works properly in Windows, or any Windows-only piece of your workflow.

It’s also the only virtualisation software Microsoft authorises for running Windows on Apple Silicon, which matters if you’re on an M-series Mac.

Before You Buy: Three Things to Check

These catch more people out than anything else.

1. Parallels Desktop 27 is Apple Silicon only

Version 27 dropped support for Intel Macs. It runs on Apple Silicon from M1 through M5 and nothing else.

If your Mac has an Intel processor — broadly anything before late 2020 — version 27 will not install. Parallels continues issuing periodic security and compatibility updates for version 26 for Intel users, so that’s the route if you’re on an Intel machine.

Check before you buy: Apple menu → About This Mac. If it says “Chip: Apple M1/M2/M3/M4/M5” you’re fine. If it says “Processor: Intel,” message us and we’ll sort out what you actually need.

Also note: version 27 requires macOS newer than Ventura 13. If you’re on Ventura or older, update macOS first.

2. Windows is not included

Parallels Desktop is the virtualisation software. It does not include a Windows licence.

You can install Windows 11 and run it unactivated — it works, with a watermark and some personalisation locked — but for a properly licensed setup you need a Windows key on top of what you pay for Parallels.

Microsoft charges $139 for Windows 11 Home, around Rs. 18,600. We sell a Windows 11 Pro key for Rs. 999, which is a considerably cheaper way to finish the job.

Budget for both, or you’ve bought half a solution.

3. Apple Silicon runs Windows on ARM, and that has limits

On M-series Macs, Parallels installs Windows 11 on ARM, not the x86 Windows that runs on a PC. Windows handles this with built-in emulation and most applications work. Some don’t.

What works well: Microsoft Office, most business and accounting software, browsers, development tools, and the great majority of everyday 64-bit Windows applications.

What doesn’t:

  • 32-bit x86 applications won’t run at all. Older or niche Nepali business software is the common casualty — check before you buy.
  • Anything needing direct hardware access — some USB dongles, licence keys, serial devices, and specialist peripherals.
  • Software with virtualisation-hostile DRM, which occasionally refuses to run in a VM.

If you depend on one specific Windows application, check it first. Search the application name plus “Windows on ARM,” or message us and we’ll help you look. Fifteen minutes of checking beats a refund request.

What’s New in Parallels Desktop 27

Released 25 August 2026, and this is a more consequential update than most.

A new Metal-based graphics driver. Windows virtual machines move from OpenGL 4.1 to OpenGL 4.3, with Parallels reporting up to 2.6x faster graphics on M3 chips and newer.

That’s not just a benchmark number. It crosses the minimum graphics threshold for professional applications that previously wouldn’t run properly — ArcGIS Pro, ZWCAD, and Blender 4.3 among them. For engineering, architecture, GIS, and design students and professionals in Nepal working on Macs, this is the release that makes those workflows viable. Parallels reports ArcGIS Pro workflows running up to 35% faster.

AI acceleration on M4 and M5. Windows and Linux VMs can now use Apple’s Scalable Matrix Extension, which speeds up matrix-heavy work. Parallels reports up to 7x faster matrix computation and 1.75x faster neural network inference on M4 Macs. Relevant if you’re running local AI models like Ollama or llama.cpp inside a VM.

Full macOS 27 support, so it keeps working through the current macOS cycle.

Enterprise improvements — better SSO, ARM SystemReady SR 3.1 certification, secure VM image distribution, and enhanced Jenkins integration for automated build and test pipelines.

Security fixes across the virtual networking stack, virtual GPU command processing, and the VirtIO subsystem.

Features removed in version 27

Worth knowing before you upgrade:

  • Intel Mac support — covered above
  • Boot Camp support, including importing an existing Boot Camp partition into a VM
  • Travel mode
  • Shared Bluetooth — Bluetooth devices connected to your Mac still work in VMs, just through a different mechanism
  • Unread mail badges for Classic Outlook
  • The Security tab in preferences, now managed remotely in Enterprise Edition

What It Actually Does

Runs Windows without rebooting. Both systems live at once. Switch with a click.

Coherence mode hides the Windows desktop entirely, so Windows applications appear as ordinary windows on your Mac — in the Dock, in Mission Control, behaving like Mac apps.

Shared files. Your Mac Documents, Desktop, and Downloads appear inside Windows. Save from a Windows app straight to a Mac folder.

Shared clipboard and drag-and-drop. Copy in one, paste in the other. Drag a file from Finder into a Windows application.

Mac gestures and hardware. Trackpad gestures, printers, cameras, and most USB devices pass through.

Snapshots. Save the state of a VM before a risky change and roll back if it breaks. Genuinely useful when testing software.

Linux too. Ubuntu, Fedora, Debian and others install alongside Windows.

Standard or Pro?

Standard Pro
Run Windows and Linux on Mac Yes Yes
Coherence, shared files, clipboard Yes Yes
New OpenGL 4.3 graphics driver Yes Yes
RAM per virtual machine Up to 8 GB Up to 128 GB
CPU cores per VM Up to 4 Up to 32
AI acceleration on M4/M5 — Yes
Network conditioner No Yes
Visual Studio and Jenkins integration No Yes
Nested virtualisation No Yes
Rollback mode and advanced snapshots Basic Full
Licence type annualy Annual only

Standard covers most people. If you need Windows for Office, accounting, a client portal, or a handful of business applications, Standard is enough and Pro’s extra RAM and cores won’t change your day.

Pro is for developers, engineers, and technical users. More RAM and cores per VM, IDE integration, nested virtualisation for running Docker or another hypervisor inside the VM, better snapshot tooling, and the AI acceleration features on M4 and M5. If you’re building software, running CAD or GIS workloads, or testing across environments, it earns its price.

One important licensing difference: Parallels sells Standard as either a perpetual licence or an annual subscription. Pro is subscription only — there is no perpetual Pro licence.

Pricing

Edition Licence Price (NPR)
Parallels Desktop 27 Standard Annual Rs. 14,888
Parallels Desktop 27 Pro Annual Rs. 18,777

Editor’s note — resolve before publishing: your source described Standard as “Annual” in one place and “1-Year Access” in the comparison table. Those are different products at very different values. See Note 2 below.

How this compares to buying direct

Parallels charges:

  • Standard: $99.99 a year, or $219.99 for a perpetual licence — about Rs. 13,400 and Rs. 29,500
  • Pro: $119.99 a year, about Rs. 16,100

So the honest picture depends on which licence you’re getting:

  • If Standard is perpetual, Rs. 14,888 is roughly half Parallels’ own perpetual price. Genuinely good value.
  • If Standard is annual, Rs. 14,888 sits above Parallels’ $99.99. You’d be paying for local payment, not a discount.
  • Pro at Rs. 18,777 is above Parallels’ $119.99 annual price. What you’re buying is the ability to pay in rupees without an international card.

Parallels also runs frequent promotions — 35% to 75% off appears regularly around Black Friday and other seasons — so the effective official price is often below list. If you have a card that works internationally and you’re not in a hurry, waiting for a sale is worth considering.

We’d rather put that in front of you than have you find it afterwards.

What You’ll Need

An Apple Silicon Mac, M1 through M5, running macOS newer than Ventura 13.

RAM is the real constraint. 8 GB total is workable but tight — Windows wants 4 GB of it and macOS needs the rest. 16 GB is where this becomes comfortable. On 8 GB, expect to close Mac applications before starting the VM.

Disk space. A Windows 11 VM needs around 40–60 GB once you’ve installed a few applications. On a 256 GB Mac that’s a meaningful bite; an external SSD is a reasonable place to keep a VM if your internal drive is tight.

A Windows licence, as covered above.

A decent connection for setup. Parallels downloads the Windows image, which is several gigabytes.

Setting It Up

  1. Buy your plan and we email activation details, usually within minutes.
  2. Download Parallels Desktop 27 from parallels.com. Always the official installer.
  3. Enter your activation key when the app first launches.
  4. Let Parallels install Windows 11. It offers to download and configure everything automatically — accept, and it handles it. Allow 30–60 minutes depending on your connection.
  5. Activate Windows with your own key. Settings → System → Activation inside the VM.
  6. Install Parallels Tools if prompted. This is what enables shared folders, clipboard, and proper display scaling. Don’t skip it.
  7. Set your VM resources. Parallels’ defaults are conservative. With 16 GB or more, giving the VM 6–8 GB and 4 cores makes a noticeable difference. Configure → Hardware.

Take a snapshot once everything works. If something breaks later you roll back in seconds instead of rebuilding.

Realistic Expectations on Performance

Office and business applications run well. For Word, Excel, accounting packages, ERP clients, and browser-based tools, most people can’t tell they’re in a VM.

Professional graphics applications improved substantially in version 27. The new OpenGL 4.3 driver brings ArcGIS Pro, ZWCAD, Blender 4.3, and similar tools into workable territory on Apple Silicon. If you tried this on an older version and gave up, it’s worth another look.

Development work is fine with enough RAM allocated, and Pro exists precisely for this.

Gaming remains the weak point, and version 27’s graphics improvements don’t change the fundamental problem:

  • Many modern games won’t launch at all because their anti-cheat systems detect virtual machines and refuse. This affects a large share of popular competitive titles.
  • DirectX support is partial, and performance sits well below the same hardware running natively.
  • On Apple Silicon you’re adding ARM translation on top of virtualisation.

Older and less demanding games often run fine. If gaming is your main reason for buying, it’s the wrong reason — a cloud gaming service or a separate PC will serve you far better, and we’d rather say so.

Alternatives Worth Knowing About

Being straight, because this isn’t cheap and it isn’t always the answer.

Parallels Desktop 26 if you have an Intel Mac. Version 27 won’t install; 26 still receives security and compatibility updates. Message us about availability.

UTM is free and open source and runs Windows on Apple Silicon. Slower, rougher, no Coherence mode, no shared clipboard without work. If budget is the binding constraint and you can tolerate friction, try it first.

CrossOver runs some Windows applications without a full Windows install and without a Windows licence. Cheaper, but compatibility is application-by-application — check your specific software on their list.

A cheap Windows laptop. If you need Windows for hours every day, an entry-level PC may cost less than Parallels plus a Windows licence and will run everything without compromise.

Parallels is the right answer when you need occasional Windows access on Apple Silicon, want both systems running at once, and value the integration.

Who Buys This

Accountants and finance staff running Nepali accounting software that only exists for Windows.

Business users whose office ERP, payroll, or banking portal is Windows-only.

Engineering, architecture, and GIS professionals — version 27’s OpenGL 4.3 driver is specifically aimed at you. ArcGIS Pro, ZWCAD, and similar tools now run properly on Apple Silicon.

Developers testing across platforms or working with Windows-specific toolchains, and anyone running local AI workloads on an M4 or M5.

Students on engineering, architecture, or design courses where the required software is Windows-only.

Anyone who switched to Mac and discovered one essential program didn’t come with them.

If Something Goes Wrong

It won’t install. Check your Mac is Apple Silicon and running macOS newer than Ventura 13. Version 27 doesn’t support Intel Macs at all.

The VM is slow. Give it more RAM and cores — Configure → Hardware. Close Mac applications you’re not using. On 8 GB total, expect constraints.

An application won’t install on Apple Silicon. It’s probably 32-bit x86, which Windows on ARM can’t run. Check for a 64-bit version.

Shared folders or clipboard aren’t working. Parallels Tools isn’t installed or needs reinstalling. Actions → Install Parallels Tools.

Windows says it isn’t activated. You need your own Windows key — Parallels doesn’t include one.

A USB device isn’t recognised. Connect it while the VM window is focused; Parallels asks which system should take it. Some specialist devices don’t pass through at all.

Poor display scaling on a Retina screen. Configure → Hardware → Graphics, then try switching between Best for Retina and Scaled.

Running out of disk. Compress the virtual disk via Configure → Hardware → Hard Disk → Properties, or move the VM to an external SSD.

Anything else, message our WhatsApp.
